Apache CloudStack
Your racks of hypervisor hosts become one private cloud with Apache CloudStack, the open-source IaaS platform that deploys and manages large networks of virtual machines behind a single web interface and API. One cloud can mix hypervisors side by side, running KVM, XenServer or XCP-ng, and VMware vSphere clusters under the same control plane, each organized into regions, zones, pods, and clusters that mirror your physical datacenters and racks. Administrators provision instances from templates and ISO images, take volume and VM snapshots on schedules, and migrate running instances between hosts in a cluster without downtime. Built-in networking spans isolated and shared networks, VPCs with tiered virtual routers, load balancers with SSL offloading, VPNs, and firewall rules, all exposed both to admins and to end users through separate, customizable interfaces. Multi-tenancy is native: domains, accounts, usage metering, and resource quotas let providers bill departments or customers for what they consume. The 4.22 LTS release strengthens backup and disaster recovery, adds a CSI driver for CloudStack Kubernetes Service, and streamlines VMware-to-KVM migrations for teams consolidating onto open virtualization. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.
Benefits
- Multiple Hypervisors, One Cloud
- Run KVM, XenServer or XCP-ng, and VMware vSphere clusters under one management plane in the same cloud. A unified API and UI replace three separate consoles, credentials, and operational runbooks.
- Physical Topology Built In
- Model real infrastructure as regions, zones, pods, and clusters that map to datacenters, racks, and host pools. Placement, redundancy, and failure domains follow the structure of your hardware by design.
- Tenant-Ready Usage Metering
- Partition capacity across domains and accounts with usage accounting and resource quotas per tenant. Service providers and internal platforms can charge back compute, storage, and network consumption accurately.
- Complete Network Services
- Offer tenants isolated networks, VPCs, load balancing with SSL offloading, VPN access, and firewall rules without external appliances. The virtual router delivers network services as part of the platform itself.
Features
- Instance Lifecycle Management
- Deploy instances from registered templates and ISOs, snapshot volumes and VMs on schedules, and live-migrate running workloads within clusters. System VMs handle console proxy and secondary storage duties automatically.
- Kubernetes Service
- Provision managed Kubernetes clusters on CloudStack infrastructure with a CSI driver for persistent volumes. Tenants get container platforms without a separate provisioning toolchain.
- VMware Migration Tooling
- Convert and migrate VMware workloads to KVM with enhanced 4.22 tooling and direct volume migration options. Consolidate onto open-source virtualization without rebuilding every guest by hand.
- Backup and Recovery
- Schedule instance backups with strengthened disaster recovery support in the 4.22 LTS line. Backup and snapshot schedule listings give operators a clear view of protection coverage.
- Administrative Web UI
- Manage infrastructure, instances, storage, networks, and accounts from a customizable web interface with role-based access. End users get their own portal for instances and templates.
