Arkeep
Five servers, five cron jobs, five restic scripts nobody quite remembers writing: Arkeep replaces that archaeology with one dashboard where every backup in your infrastructure reports for duty. A small agent on each machine dials out to the central server and waits for work, so nothing listens on an agent port and machines behind NAT or a home firewall enroll just as easily as cloud VPSes. From the web interface you define destinations, which can be local disk, any S3-compatible storage, SFTP, a restic REST server, or more than forty Rclone backends, then build policies that send one backup job to several destinations at once for a genuine 3-2-1 layout. Docker volumes are discovered automatically, and databases stream straight into the backup with pg_dump and mysqldump instead of fragile file copies. Retention and repository integrity checks run per destination on their own schedules. When recovery day comes, you open any snapshot in the browser, browse its files, and restore a single folder in place or somewhere new. Failures announce themselves by email, Slack, Discord, or webhook, or stay silent in Healthchecks.io. Sign-in is yours to choose: local accounts with TOTP two-factor, or single sign-on through any OIDC provider. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.
Benefits
- One Dashboard, Every Server
- Agents, destinations, policies, jobs, and snapshots for your whole fleet live in one web interface. What ran, when it ran, and whether it succeeded stops being a question you answer server by server.
- Agents That Dial Out
- Each agent connects outbound over gRPC and switches to mutual TLS after enrollment. Agents never listen on a port, so hosts behind NAT and strict firewalls are first-class citizens.
- Real 3-2-1 Policies
- One policy fans out to local disk, S3-compatible storage, SFTP, a restic REST server, and 40+ Rclone backends. Retention and integrity checks run per destination on independent schedules.
- No Lock-In, Ever
- Repositories stay plain restic, readable with the standard restic CLI if Arkeep vanished tomorrow. Your backups belong to you, not to the management layer sitting on top of them.
Features
- Docker-Aware Sources
- Agents discover Docker volumes on their own, and database dumps stream into restic via stdin using pg_dump, mysqldump, and friends.
- Snapshot Browser Restore
- Open any snapshot in the web interface, browse its tree, download a file or folder, or restore a selection in place or to a new location.
- Failure Notifications
- Email, webhooks for Slack, Discord, and n8n, plus Healthchecks.io pings make sure a silently dead backup job is discovered by you, not by an incident.
- OIDC And TOTP Sign-In
- Local accounts support TOTP two-factor authentication, and any OpenID Connect provider (Zitadel, Authentik, Keycloak) can front the dashboard for single sign-on.
- Helm Chart Deployment
- Install with Docker Compose, standalone binaries, or the Kubernetes Helm chart; state lives in SQLite by default or PostgreSQL for larger setups.
