Neonlink

Neonlink is the bookmark page you actually keep open: a private dashboard of your links, grouped, tagged, and dressed up with your own background. Adding a link takes seconds because the title, description, and site icon are fetched for you the moment you paste the URL. Links live in groups you create and color yourself, so work tools, reading, and projects each get their own card on the page, and drag and drop puts them in the order your eyes expect. Tags cut across groups for the links that belong to two worlds at once, and the sidebar can filter by them in combination. Search covers titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags and updates as you type, which matters once the collection passes the few hundred links every browser bookmark bar quietly becomes. The whole page is yours visually too: pick a background image and switch between grid and list layouts, light and dark themes. Because it sits behind a login on your own server, the collection follows you to any browser on any machine without syncing through a browser vendor's cloud or handing your reading habits to a bookmarking service. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. MIT licensed.

Benefits

  • Paste a URL, done
  • New bookmarks fetch their own title, description, and favicon automatically, so saving a link is one paste instead of typing metadata into three fields for every site you keep.
  • Groups and tags together
  • Colored groups give every topic its own card on the dashboard while tags cross between them; the sidebar filters by active tags so overlapping collections stay findable from either direction.
  • Search that keeps up
  • Full-text search matches titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags as you type, turning a collection of hundreds of links back into something you can actually retrieve things from.
  • Light enough for anything
  • One Docker container with SQLite storage and minimal dependencies runs comfortably on the smallest VPS or a Raspberry Pi, with multi-arch images published for both.

Features

  • Automatic link metadata
  • Saved URLs are fetched server-side to extract page title, description, and favicon, which are cached locally so cards render instantly and stay recognizable at a glance.
  • Colored link groups
  • Bookmarks are organized into groups with custom names and card colors, reordered by drag and drop, and shown on a dashboard you can switch between grid and list layouts.
  • Tags and search
  • Multiple tags per bookmark combine in sidebar filters, and instant search scans titles, URLs, descriptions, and tags across the whole SQLite-backed collection.
  • Private by login
  • A built-in login page keeps the dashboard private when exposed through a reverse proxy, and data lives in a mounted folder you can back up or move freely.
  • Custom backgrounds and themes
  • The dashboard accepts your own background images from a mounted media folder and offers light and dark themes, so the start page looks like yours instead of a product.
