Open DroneLog

Every DJI and Litchi flight you have ever logged becomes a searchable dashboard on your own server with Open DroneLog, a free, open-source alternative to DroneLogbook, Airdata UAV, and Flight Reader. Drop in DJI .txt logs, Litchi CSV files, or Airdata CSV exports and units are detected automatically, while deduplication on drone serial, battery serial, and start time lets you re-import a folder without duplicate flights. Each flight opens as a 3D terrain map with satellite, topographic, and OpenStreetMap layers, then replays from 0.5x to 16x speed with live telemetry and an RC joystick overlay. Synchronized charts plot height, speed, battery cell voltages, attitude, RC signal, GPS, and distance to home, with drag-to-zoom. Filters narrow flights by date, drone, battery, controller, duration, altitude, distance, tag, or map area, and automatic tags such as Night Flight and Low Battery arrive with offline reverse-geocoded locations. The overview dashboard adds an activity heatmap, per-drone and per-battery charts, and a cluster map. Battery health bars track cycle counts and capacity history, and maintenance thresholds show as color-coded progress bars. Export flights as CSV, JSON, GPX, or KML, build printable HTML flight reports that save as PDF, or generate a FlyCard image for social media. A sync folder imports new logs automatically, pilot profiles can sit behind passwords, and full-database backup and restore moves data between desktop and Docker. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. AGPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Keep Flight Data on Your Server
  • Logs live in a local DuckDB database on your own container volume and are never uploaded to a cloud logbook. DJI decryption keys are fetched and cached so newer encrypted logs decode.
  • Replace Paid Drone Logbook Subscriptions
  • One free instance covers unlimited flights, 3D replay, battery health tracking, maintenance thresholds, and print-ready reports that cloud logbooks and per-license desktop tools charge for.
  • Catch Battery Wear Early
  • Per-battery health bars, cycle counts, capacity history charts, and color-coded maintenance thresholds show which packs are aging and which aircraft are due for service across your whole flight history.
  • Give Every Pilot Their Own Space
  • Profiles separate flight data by pilot or drone fleet, each with its own database, settings, uploads, and sync folder, and a master password controls who can create or delete them.

Features

  • DJI and Litchi Import
  • Reads DJI .txt flight records, Litchi CSV, and Airdata CSV exports with automatic metric and imperial detection, plus optional external parser plugins configured through parsers.json.
  • 3D Flight Replay
  • MapLibre terrain maps with satellite, topographic, and OpenStreetMap layers replay each flight at 0.5x to 16x speed with a live telemetry readout and RC joystick overlay.
  • Docker Web Deployment
  • An Axum REST backend behind Nginx serves the dashboard as a self-hosted web app on port 8080, with a persistent volume holding the DuckDB database.
  • Exports and Reports
  • Exports flights as CSV, JSON, GPX, or KML, builds print-ready A4 HTML flight reports that save as PDF, and renders 1080x1080 FlyCard images for social media.
  • Smart Tags and Filters
  • Auto-tags such as Night Flight and Low Battery plus offline reverse geocoding feed filters for date, drone, battery, controller, duration, altitude, distance, and map area.
  • Folder Sync and Backups
  • The SYNC_LOGS_PATH setting imports new log files from a mounted folder, and full database backup and restore moves flight history between desktop and Docker instances.
