Para

The name means steam in Bulgarian, and the job matches: Para is the boiler room that powers your application's backend so you never build one from scratch. You store plain JSON objects through a REST API and get them back persisted, indexed for full-text search, and cached on every write, without designing schemas or gluing three systems together yourself. One server hosts many applications at once, each with its own table, search index, and cache, so a client project, a side app, and an internal tool can share a single deployment without sharing data. Users sign in with social accounts, LDAP, or SAML and receive JSON Web Tokens, while resource permissions decide exactly which objects each client may touch. Queries go beyond key lookups: field, wildcard, geo point, and more-like-this searches all run against the same stored objects. Signed webhooks notify your own endpoints when data changes, and an MCP server lets AI assistants manage configuration, data, and search against the same backend. The admin Web Console handles users, objects, backups, and permissions from the browser, and client libraries cover JavaScript, PHP, Java, C#, Android, and iOS. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Para

Benefits

  • Backend Without Building One
  • Store schemaless JSON objects through a REST API and receive persistence, full-text indexing, and write-through caching together, replacing weeks of backend plumbing on new projects.
  • Many Apps, One Server
  • Multitenancy gives each application its own table, search index, and cache on a single deployment, so client work and side projects stay isolated without extra servers.
  • Search Built Into Storage
  • Every object is indexed automatically, enabling field, wildcard, geo point, and more-like-this queries against stored data without running a separate search pipeline.
  • Serious Access Control Included
  • Social login, LDAP, and SAML issue JSON Web Tokens, while per-resource permissions and AWS Signature V4 request signing protect both users and API clients.

Features

  • Signed REST API
  • A RESTful JSON API secured with Amazon Signature V4 request signing and stateless JWT client authentication, with pagination and field limiting on reads.
  • Database-Agnostic Persistence
  • Designed for scalable stores such as DynamoDB, Cassandra, and MongoDB, with per-object control of persistence, indexing, and cache operations plus optimistic locking.
  • Search and Cache Layers
  • Lucene or Elasticsearch provides full-text search while Caffeine locally and Hazelcast in clusters cache objects automatically on every create or update.
  • Web Console and MCP
  • The Para Web Console administers users, objects, backups, and permissions, and the Para MCP server exposes backend services to AI assistants over MCP.
  • Webhooks and Plugins
  • Signed-payload webhooks report data changes to your endpoints, and a modular Guice design with plugins, Dropwizard metrics, and i18n utilities extends the server.
