SyncWatch

Movie night should not depend on everyone pressing play at the same second; SyncWatch runs your own watch-party server so friends in different places watch the same frame together. The host controls play, pause, seeking, and playback speed for the whole room, and late joiners or drifting clients are corrected back to the shared position automatically. You build the program from uploads or direct HTTPS media links, with subtitles, audio, images, and documents handled in the same library. Rooms can be permanent or temporary, protected by passwords and member limits, with host, admin, and permission-group control over who may operate playback. Between scenes, people talk through public and private chat, on-screen danmaku comments, emoji, voice messages, or full-room voice. Anyone can share a browser tab, window, desktop, or phone screen into the room, so a clip, a game, or a presentation becomes the shared screen. The server also keeps friends, notifications, online presence, bans, registration approvals, and an operations log, so a private community can run itself without a platform account. Uploaded media is analyzed and thumbnailed automatically, with browser-compatible versions generated for awkward formats. Backups, data export, a recycle bin, mail verification, and network diagnostics round out the admin side. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. Apache-2.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Everyone Sees The Same Frame
  • The host drives play, pause, seeking, and speed for the entire room while clients auto-correct drift, so reactions land together instead of seconds apart across cities and devices.
  • Your Server, Your Media Library
  • Films, audio, subtitles, and documents live on your own machine under your accounts and room rules, with no third-party watch-party platform holding your files, history, or member list.
  • More Than A Shared Player
  • Chat, danmaku overlays, voice rooms, and screen sharing from browser, desktop, and Android turn a screening into a hangout, covering clips, games, and presentations as well as films.
  • Rooms With Real Administration
  • Passwords, member limits, permission groups, registration approvals, bans, and operation logs let a host run anything from a two-person date night to a managed private viewing community.

Features

  • Synchronized Playback Engine
  • Host-controlled play, pause, seek, speed, and optional volume sync over realtime events, with drift correction, skip-intro settings, and playback state restored for members who reconnect.
  • Media And Subtitle Handling
  • Upload video, audio, subtitles, images, and documents or add HTTPS media links; FFprobe analysis and FFmpeg thumbnails plus browser-compatible transcodes keep mixed libraries watchable everywhere.
  • Chat, Danmaku, And Voice
  • Public and private messaging, scrolling danmaku comments with per-user color and size, emoji, image and voice messages, full-room voice, and fullscreen announcements during playback.
  • Screen And Page Sharing
  • Share a browser tab, window, desktop, or Android screen into the room over WebRTC with system-audio support on desktop, falling back gracefully when a direct connection fails.
  • Accounts And Room Governance
  • Friends, presence, device information, permission groups, bans, registration approval, login limits, and audit records, with guests limited until they register for full room rights.
  • Server Operations Toolkit
  • Data import and export, backup and restore, a recycle bin, email verification, password recovery, logs, and network diagnostics, plus optional public access through a tunnel or reverse proxy.
