Fail2Ban Report

Fail2Ban quietly bans thousands of bots on a typical VPS and just as quietly keeps the whole story buried in a log file nobody reads, and Fail2Ban Report digs that story out into a dashboard you will actually open. Shell scripts convert each day of fail2ban.log into JSON, and the web interface lays every ban and unban on a searchable, filterable timeline you can slice by jail, server, or time window. Aggregated statistics for today, yesterday, seven days, and thirty days show which jails absorb the most attacks, while markers flag repeat offenders and escalating ban counts so persistent scanners stand out from one-time noise. Blocklists live per jail and per server as plain JSON, and ban or unban actions execute through UFW, giving you permanent bans that survive independently of jail restarts. Bulk actions handle whole ranges at once, with a pending state until the next sync applies them. Multiple servers feed one console through a pull-based HTTPS endpoint, so a fleet of small machines reports to a single pane without exposing SSH. Optional AbuseIPDB and IP-Info lookups add reputation and region context to any address. Running on a dedicated VPS on RepoCloud with guaranteed CPU, RAM, and SSD, full root SSH access, and a browser serial console. GPL-3.0 licensed.

Benefits

  • Logs become readable reports
  • Daily shell jobs parse fail2ban.log into JSON event files, and the interface presents bans and unbans as a searchable timeline with statistics for today, yesterday, seven-day, and thirty-day windows.
  • Bans you control permanently
  • Ban and unban actions run through UFW rather than jail internals, so your blocklist persists as plain JSON per jail and per server, independent of Fail2Ban restarts or jail reconfigurations.
  • One console, many servers
  • Additional machines sync their reports and blocklists to the central dashboard through a pull-based HTTPS endpoint, so small servers report in without exposing SSH or shared log directories.
  • Featherweight by design
  • No database and no framework: PHP pages over flat JSON files, light enough for a Raspberry Pi, with viewer accounts read-only and only admins able to change blocklists.

Features

  • Event timeline and statistics
  • Searchable, filterable ban and unban timeline with aggregated counts per jail, repeat-offender markers, escalation indicators, and warning thresholds for activity spikes across four time windows.
  • JSON blocklist management
  • Per-jail, per-server blocklists stored as JSON with status, source, and timestamps, bulk ban and unban actions, and a pending state for changes awaiting the next firewall sync.
  • Multi-server HTTPS sync
  • Sync clients push daily reports to the central console over secure HTTPS endpoints, each server keeping its own archives and blocklists, switchable from one dropdown in the interface.
  • Roles and reputation lookups
  • Bcrypt-hashed accounts with viewer and admin roles, optional IP whitelisting, and optional AbuseIPDB and IP-Info.io enrichment adding reputation, region, and provider data to any address.
